The screens are winning. Game night used to fix that.

Remember when a pack of cards could hold the whole family hostage for hours? When Nan ruled the table and the kids actually wanted to be there?

Most games are either too complicated for grandparents or too boring for kids. Party games lose the strategy. Educational games lose the fun. And screen time quietly wins again.

Trigahex was designed to solve exactly this.

It is a multigenerational card game that is genuinely easy to learn, surprisingly deep to master, and one of the few educational family games that kids actually ask to play again.

It's not just fun. There's science behind why it works.

Trigahex is STEM.org Authenticated and ranked in the Top 5% of Best in STEM products — not because it comes with a worksheet, but because every move quietly builds the kind of thinking that matters.

  • Spatial reasoning - rotating and placing triangular cards to form hexagons
  • Strategic thinking - planning 2-3 moves ahead to block opponents
  • Pattern recognition - spotting opportunities others miss
  • Social skills - reading the table, adapting and gracefully losing

  • Deal the Cards

Each player receives a hand of triangular cards — numbered, coloured, and ready to cause trouble.

  • Build Your Hexagons

Play cards to the table forming hexagons. Complete one and score it. Block your opponents from completing theirs.

  • Block and Strategise

Watching what everyone else is doing is half the game. Grandparents are notoriously sneaky.

  • Most Hexagons Wins

Game ends when cards run out. Count your hexagons, crown a champion, and demand a rematch immediately.

  • What a way to spend a hot, hot Saturday afternoon! Relaxed in the a/c with much laughter & problem solving! Best game ever!

Everything you need to know before your first game night.

Got questions? We have answers.

Is it really easy enough for grandparents to learn?

Genuinely, yes.

Most first-time players are up and playing confidently within one round of watching — even if the explanation was a bit rushed.

The rules fit on a single page, and the game is designed so that new players can follow along immediately without needing to read anything in advance.

If your Nan can play Rummy or Snap, she can play Trigahex. Fair warning though: she will probably beat you.

How long does a game of Trigahex actually take?

A typical game runs between 10 and 40 minutes depending on how many players are at the table and how ruthlessly everyone is playing.

With two players, games tend to be shorter and more tactical. With five or six players, expect more chaos, more laughter, and longer sessions.

Most families find themselves playing two or three rounds back to back — which is either a feature or a warning, depending on how competitive your family is.

What age is Trigahex suitable for?

Trigahex is designed for ages 8 and up.

Kids from 8 can fully play and compete — the spatial and strategic thinking involved is genuinely well-suited to developing minds at that age. There is no upper age limit.

Our oldest known fan is 84 and still undefeated at Christmas.

Why is it STEM-accredited? Is it actually educational?

Trigahex is STEM.org Authenticated and ranked in the Top 5% of Best in STEM products.

The accreditation is based on the cognitive skills the game develops during play: spatial reasoning, pattern recognition, and strategic thinking are all built into the core mechanics.

The difference from a traditional educational game is that none of this feels like learning.

Players are focused entirely on outsmarting each other — the brain development is just what happens along the way.

Where is Trigahex made? Is it Australian?

If you have ever been stuck in Gold Coast traffic and needed something to do, you can thank that commute for this game existing.

What if my family does not love it?

We would be genuinely surprised — but please check our refund and returns policy for the full details on how we handle that. In the meantime, we would encourage you to read through our customer reviews before purchasing.

The most common feedback we receive is not that people disliked the game, but that they immediately bought a second one as a gift.
